In this column i try to give a short overview about the handling, standard keys and effects of useing the keyboard ingame. Also i will explain some menus and submenus to make it easier for beginners. If you are looking for a detailed explanation have a look at our first steps section.

Quickstart
After creating the character the young captain begins his/her service for the selected nation, commanding a sloop. During a small trip, he can earn his first gold. After arriving in the target city, he receives a reward for the letter job. If this sequence is over, you can start playing yourself. At begining you have one sloop and 8 shipboys and 10 food.

At start of your carreer you have to earn some money, make some tours and do jobs. Or collecte all plunder and sell it. You can find the jobs inside the town in the city informaton menu. Alll availble jobs are listed here. To get detailed information about the job you choose, click at the job and read the more information text. This text helps you how to do the job in right way to get money. Take one job and start sailing.

After that short part of doing jobs you have to take time to learn sailing, discover your enviroment and earing more money. You will need the money to keep your specialists loyal, paying bills for anchoring ships or to upgrade ships. You should bring all your money to bank. During the game you will discover more and more options how to handle the game. For begining here are some usefull tables like the sailing commands "sailing".

After the first successful sail maneuvers the young captain should get a further overview take a look at lower status border.


Here do you see from left to right the status bar (try to point with pointer of mouse at the symbols ingame):

your current condition
your character stats and bonuses of specialists and the teamlevel
your current action
your cannonstatus (number in [2/2]= 2 of 2 cannons)
your current ammunition (Number in [100/400]= 100 of 400 ammunition)
your sailing speed
your cargo (pointer of mouse at Symbol= food indicate)
your crew and moral (pointer of mouse at Symbol= -100 to +100= Status of moral)
gold on board (pointer of mouse at Symbol= gold at bank)

Another important and usefull function is held by "right mouse button". If you click it, another menu will open.

Under Logbuch/Citys you can read about the actions of your character. You will find there infos about your swordfights and and city visits. Also here are detailed informations about known citys and the commodity price of your last visit.

Under Maps you open the ingame map with your discovered citys. At beginning the map is empty, but it will filled up with every new city you discover in the "new world" (btw dont forget to set waypoint at new city). You can find a map with all citys and coordinates here.

Under Crew you will find informations about your crew and more additional informations. This menu also holds a list of your specialists. There you can see more details about particular specialists and if its necassary you can dismiss them (only if you are inside a city).

Under Fleet you will get an overview of your actually fleet (cannons, ammunition, navigation- and anchor costs etc.). In submenu you can see the condition of your ships and at which ports they are anchored.

Under Personality are your specific characterstats, reputation and state of war. Remember that the state of war may change while you are at sea. You get the actually state if you talked to governeur or on our website.

Under Team/Clan you can see who is in your team and who of your clan mates is online. Here you can form a new team, join team or invite new members.

Under Friends/Chat you can see your buddy/ignore-list. Here you can also open and close other channels like piratestavern or newbiechannel.

Under Settings or Options you can change many ingame things like sound, graphics or colours of chatchannels. Its usefull to reduce the lenght of chatlines.

At the beginning of your carreer the quickbar looks like this:


After some time you will find specialists who can help you on your further journey. Then the quickbar will change the look (take a look at carpenter and fisher). If you click on a symbol the action will be implemented.

Chatbefehl	Auswirkung
/Help	opens the ingame help menu (with much more chat commands, ...)
/ccjoin NAME	enters a channel called NAME
/ccprivate	sets the current channel to private mode, other players may only enter with admins allowance
/ccinvite NAME	invites a player into the current channel
/buddy NAME	adds player to buddy list or deletes players that are already on the list
/NAME	sends a private message to the player called NAME
